Step-by-Step Example:

  • Measure in Inches: You have a board 2 inches thick, 6 inches wide, and 96 inches (8 ft) long.
  • Calculate Cubic Inches: Multiply 2 x 6 x 96 = 1,152 cubic inches.
  • Convert to Cubic Feet: Divide by 1,728 (the number of cubic inches in a cubic foot).
  • 1552 / 1728 = 0.067 cubic feet
